Exotic Jonny Herbert 1950s black embroidered white chiffon
vintage dress. Taffeta lined and in exquisite condition! 

The runways for Fall 2007 were loaded with influences from the 1940's and 50s!

I love the elegant and feminine party dresses
from the 1950s. After the mannish fashions
and the fabric rationing of WWII, the fashion
world was ready for a change. The curvy female
figure was back in vogue with full-skirted styles
that emphasized a small waist and drew attention
to the bust.

In this flirtatious black/ivory party dress, the
designer adds depth to the design by layering
fabrics. The top layer of white chiffon is
embroidered with abstract ivory & black swivels.
Peeking through the top layer is a layer of taffetta
tulle, under which is ivory satin.

The full skirt is supported by the three layers
acting as a three layer crinoline to hold the shape.
The dress closes in back with a metal zipper.
