Description: André Courreges
André Courreges, a former civil engineer led the cult of visionary couture fashion design in Paris in the 1960s. It was a movement that cut away superfluous mateial, banned decoration and established geometry and the use of new materials in fashion. He placed the meticulous cut of fashion he had practiced in Balenciaga's atelier in the 1950s in the service of the 1960s idealism of youth and the future. Courreges is known as the father of the mini skirt which he designed stiff and sqaure and advocated a minimum of body coverage.
Courreges also created the futuristic moon look and his models even wore space helmets!!
This sensational collectors piece incorporates these facets of design for which he is infamous. It's space age appeal comes from the perfect geometry of it's design lines and would be perfect paired with a stiff square mini skirt and go-go boots which he also conceived.
The coat itself fastens with parallel panels along the front left breast of the coat. As these have concealed velcro closures they may be adjusted for a perfect fit between the measurements given below. Other features of this Courreges collectors piece include a front left slash pocket at hip level and adjustable velcro waist/back panels for that perfect fitted style.
