RONALD AMEY:
(1932-1986) Ronald Amey was the head designer for Burke-Amey.
This design firm Burke-Amey was started in 1959 by designer Ronald Amey, and his business partner, Joseph Burke. Amey was known for his use of interesting materials and big, bold prints, and he often used the fabrics Tzaims Luksus (the first person to be awarded the famed Coty Award for fabric design).
The fabric Ronald Amey chose for this coat was a Tzaims Luksus warp-printed jacquard designed and produced by Tzaims Luksus, who often worked two to three years on the design, construction and presentation of his fabrics before offering them to any fashion designer. Per correspondence with Tzaims Luksus, the fabric on this coat was chosen by Ronald Amey from the Tzaims Luksus c. 1970 fabric collection Tzaims manufactured in Como, Italy and also selected by Yves St. Laurent in Paris and James Galanos in California.
A rare collectors find!
Condition: Excellent: FLAWLESS! The coat fastens with concealed poppers. The 6 buttons on the front are missing. I have left it to the buyer to have a little fun customizing this sensational collectors piece with their own individually chosen buttons. I can attach a set of buttons if preferred. Personally I think the buttons were removed deliberately as the coat still fastens and buttons would detract from the sensational print!
